Samsung dishwasher does not dry dishes

Samsung dishwasher does not dry dishes: plastic retention, rinse aid, selected option, final-rinse heat and vent/fan design affect drying. Scoped to DW80B7070*.

Samsung's table for dishes that do not dry on the DW80B7070 lists five causes: no rinse aid or too little (check the dispenser, use liquid rinse aid and check the rinse aid setting), low water temperature (use a hot supply and rinse aid with Sanitize or SmartDry), too many dishes, concave-bottomed glasses that hold water (empty the lower rack first, then the upper), and Auto Release Dry turned off (turn it on with Lower Rack plus Hi-Temp Wash held for 3 seconds and select A1). Also, multiple detergent tablets used without Sanitize leave dishes wet: select Sanitize or use rinse aid.

Try in this order

  1. Add rinse aid and raise the level

    Reversible

When the Rinse Refill indicator lights, refill with liquid rinse aid. In the settings menu choose F1 to F6, where a higher number dispenses more; the default is F4.

  2. Turn on Auto Release Dry

    Reversible

Hold Lower Rack plus Hi-Temp Wash for 3 seconds to reach the Auto Release Dry setting and select A1. The door then opens automatically 1 to 15 minutes before the cycle ends.

  3. Use SmartDry

    Reversible

Press SmartDry Hi/Lo once for High, which raises the rinse temperature up to 73 C, or twice for Low, which reinforces drying with heated air circulation and is Samsung's recommended option.

  4. Load for drying

    Reversible

Load dishes as recommended and do not clog the hot air outlet at the lower right corner. Keep plastic dishes away from it.

  5. Unload the bottom rack first

    Reversible

Empty the lower rack first, then the upper, so water from concave cups does not drip onto clean dishes.
