An LG DLEX6500 that stops in the middle of a cycle is either finishing early because a sensor cycle read the load as dry, being stopped by a vent restriction, or reporting a fault. LG says a very small load can make a sensor cycle shut off too soon, and a restricted exhaust sets the Flow Sense light or a duct blockage message at 80, 90 or 95 percent. Read the display before you turn the dryer off, because that message points at the fix.
Differential
Likely causes of “LG electric or gas dryer stops before the cycle is finished”, and how to tell them apart
- 1
A very small load ending a sensor cycle early
What separates it The cycle ends with damp clothes in less time than the display showed
How to confirm Add a few damp items, or choose Timed Dry or Quick Dry with a set time
- 2
A restricted exhaust
What separates it The Flow Sense light or a duct blockage message shows and the cycle stops or runs long
How to confirm Clean the lint filter and check the outside vent hood and duct
- 3
A temperature sensor fault
What separates it A temperature sensor error shows and the dryer stops heating
How to confirm Turn the dryer off and call LG service, as the manual instructs
- 4
A power failure or tripped breaker
What separates it The display went dark and the dryer is off when you return
How to confirm Check the panel for a tripped breaker and reset it once
Before you touch a setting
Record this first — changing settings destroys the evidence
- The message or indicator on the display when it stopped
- The cycle, the load size and how much time was left
- Whether the breaker tripped or other things on that circuit went off
Try in this order
0 of 5 completedRead the display before opening the door
ReversibleNote any message or the Flow Sense light. Turning the power off can clear the message you need.
Match the load to the cycle
ReversibleFor a very small load use a Manual cycle such as Timed Dry, or add a few damp towels. LG says the control cannot sense a tiny load and may shut off too soon.
Clean the lint filter
ReversibleRoll the lint off, hold the filter to a light, and wash it if softener has coated it. For loads such as new bath towels, LG says to pause the cycle and clean it mid-cycle.
Check the vent and reset the Flow Sense light
ReversibleClean the duct and the hood. LG says the Flow Sense light needs several consecutive cycles to reset, and to call service if it stays on for more than five cycles.
Check the breaker
ReversibleIf the display went dark, look at the panel. Reset a tripped breaker once. If it trips again, call an electrician and do not raise the rating.

Stop boundary
When this stops being a self-service repair
- !If a temperature sensor error shows, turn the dryer off and call LG service
- !If the duct blockage message returns after the duct is cleaned, have the exhaust repaired or rerouted
- !If it stops mid-cycle with a clear filter, clear duct, normal load and no message, call LG service

Exact questions
Common questions
Why does my LG dryer stop before the time runs out?+
On a sensor cycle it stops when the sensors read the load as dry, and a very small load can make it shut off too soon.
Why does it start again by itself?+
That is Wrinkle Care, which tumbles the load every few minutes for up to three hours after the cycle, or until the door is opened.
What does the Flow Sense light mean?+
The dryer has detected a restriction in the external venting. The light stays on for two hours after the cycle unless you open the door or press Power.
How long does the Flow Sense light take to clear?+
After the duct is cleaned it takes several consecutive cycles. If it stays on for more than five cycles, call for service.
Can I keep using the dryer with the light on?+
LG says you can, but drying takes longer and uses more energy, and it says to check and clean the duct immediately.
What does the power supply message mean?+
On an electric dryer the power cord is connected incorrectly or the house supply is wrong. LG says to check the cord at the terminal block.
Why does Steam Fresh run only ten minutes?+
The manual lists Steam Fresh as a 10-minute cycle that is not adjustable, for a comforter or five shirts.
Is there a diagnosis tool?+
The manual describes Smart Diagnosis: choose it in the Options menu, hold your phone's mouthpiece close to the Power button and press OK until the data transfer is complete.
