Whirlpool washing machines: front-load, top-load and combo models

Whirlpool sells front-load washers such as the WFW series, top-loaders with a removable agitator such as the WTW series, and an all-in-one washer and dryer, the WFC8090, and the directory lists them by model. The complaints are consistent across the range: a cycle that takes longer than the time first shown, a front-loader that will not drain, shaking on the spin, a musty smell, a lid or door that stays locked and a Sud or Sd message that stops the wash. Each of those has its own page for the model, because a front-loader, a top-loader and a combo fail in different ways.

Whirlpool uses F#E# fault codes across the range. The two you will meet most are Sud or Sd, which means too much foam from too much or the wrong detergent, and LF, a long fill that points at the taps and the inlet screens. A drain complaint on a front-loader starts with the filter behind the lower panel. A shaking washer needs its feet leveled and the shipping bolts removed. A top-loader that will not spin has an unbalanced load or a lid that is not locking. Keep to a measured dose of high-efficiency detergent and run the Clean Washer cycle with an affresh tablet about monthly.

The label with the model and serial numbers is on the door frame of a front-loader or under the lid of a top-loader, and Whirlpool's support asks for both.
