• Modes and the rotating soundbar
  The Yoga 9i 2-in-1 has a 360 degree hinge that turns it into a tent, a stand and a tablet, and the hinge carries the rotating soundbar, so the sound changes with the mode. In tablet mode the keyboard is disabled and the screen rotates, and some people trigger this by accident when the screen is folded back a little, so check the mode before assuming the keyboard is faulty. Use the laptop on a hard surface in laptop mode, since the vents are underneath and a soft surface blocks them. The OLED display gives a rich picture but, like all OLED, can retain a static image, so set a short screen timeout.
• Pen, battery and updates
  The pen that comes with some configurations charges inside the laptop's slot or through USB-C, and a pen that does not respond may simply be flat. Keep Lenovo Vantage up to date for BIOS, driver and battery settings, and use its battery charge limit if the laptop sits plugged in for weeks. A laptop that flexes at the hinge or has a loose hinge cover should be looked at under warranty. Note the serial number, which is on the base and in the BIOS, for Lenovo support.
