Every EdgeStar laundry center code: what it means and what to do
EdgeStar laundry center code E10
A water fill problem: the control saw no rise in the water level for seven minutes after it opened the inlet valve.
Check that both taps behind the unit are fully open and that the fill hoses are not kinked or frozen.
Open the taps fully and straighten the hoses, and in winter make sure the supply has not frozen. If water still does not arrive when the control calls for it, the inlet valve assembly is the part to test and replace.
EdgeStar laundry center code E12
The level sensor reported too much water in the tub.
Unplug the washer and see whether the tub is actually overfull.
If the tub is overfull, test whether the inlet valve shuts off with the power removed; a valve that keeps passing water is replaced. If the tub is empty when E12 shows, the water level pressure switch is the likely culprit and it is replaced instead.
EdgeStar laundry center code E20
A drain cycle error: the control asked the drain pump to run and it never came on.
Check the wiring between the main control board and the drain pump.
Reseat any loose connectors or replace a damaged harness. If the wiring is sound, replace the drain pump, and if the fault continues after that, the main control board is the remaining suspect.
EdgeStar laundry center code E21
A slow drain: the control saw no drop in the water level for six minutes or more.
Inspect the drain hose for kinks and blockages.
Clear the hose and the coin trap. If the pump does not run on demand, check the wiring from pump to board, repair loose connectors or a damaged harness and then replace the pump. If E21 persists with a good pump and harness, the main control board is replaced.
EdgeStar laundry center code E33
The water level sensor failed.
Unplug the unit and check the sensor's harness.
Look at the connections between the water level sensor and the main control board, repair loose wires or a damaged harness and, if the wiring is fine, replace the sensor.
EdgeStar laundry center code E34 or E35
A failure of the water heater sensor.
Unplug the unit and inspect the wiring to the sensor.
Check the harness between the main control board and the sensor, fix loose connectors or replace a damaged harness, and if the harness is sound replace the sensor.
EdgeStar laundry center code E36
The water heating element has failed.
Unplug the unit and check the element's connections.
Check the harness from the element to the main control board, then measure the element with a multimeter: about 14 ohms is healthy, and an open circuit, shown as infinite resistance, means the element is broken and is replaced.
EdgeStar laundry center code E37 or E38
An inlet air temperature sensor failure on the dryer side.
Unplug the unit and check the sensor's wiring.
Repair loose connections or a damaged harness between the sensor and the main control board. Then measure the sensor at room temperature: about 5,000 ohms is normal, and a reading more than 1,000 ohms away means the sensor is replaced.
EdgeStar laundry center code E3A
A dryer heating element failure.
Unplug the unit and check the wiring to the element.
Reconnect loose wires or replace a damaged harness, then measure the element: about 13 ohms is normal, and infinite resistance means the element has broken and must be replaced. If both the element and the wiring test well, the main control board is the next part to replace.
EdgeStar laundry center code E40
The memory chip on the main control board, an EEPROM, is corrupted.
Unplug the unit for five minutes, then restore power.
If the code clears after the power-off period, carry on and watch for a repeat. If it returns, the main control board is replaced.
EdgeStar laundry center code E52, E53 or E54
Main control board errors.
Unplug the unit before the board is touched.
The listed remedy for these three codes is to replace the main control board.
EdgeStar laundry center code E55
The drive motor is drawing too much current.
Unplug the unit for five minutes to reset the main control board.
If the code returns, turn the spin basket by hand. If it turns freely the main control board is replaced. If it resists, remove the drive belt and spin the motor pulley: a pulley that does not spin freely means the drive motor is replaced. If the pulley is free but the basket still resists, look for an item jammed between the basket and the outer tub, and failing that the spin bearing has seized and the appliance needs a new tub assembly.
EdgeStar laundry center code E56 or E57
The motor inverter control board is drawing too much current.
Check whether the load is too heavy.
Reduce an overloaded drum. With a normal load, unplug the unit and check the harness between the inverter board and the drive motor, repair loose wires or a damaged harness and then replace the inverter board; if the fault remains, the drive motor is replaced.
EdgeStar laundry center code E58
A failed motor inverter board.
Unplug the unit and check the inverter board harness.
Look at the connections between the inverter board and the drive motor, repair loose wires or a damaged harness and, if they are sound, replace the inverter control board.
EdgeStar laundry center code E59
The main control board saw an overload.
Turn the spin basket by hand to see whether it rotates freely.
A freely turning basket points to the main control board, which is replaced. A basket that resists means removing the drive belt and spinning the motor pulley: if the pulley is stiff the drive motor is replaced, and if it is free the next step is to look for an item stuck between the basket and the tub and, failing that, a seized spin bearing that needs a new tub assembly.
EdgeStar laundry center code E70
The Start/Pause button is stuck.
Unplug the unit and press the button to feel whether it returns.
The button is replaced, and if the code persists after that the main control board is replaced.
EdgeStar laundry center code E71
A failure in the detergent dispenser.
Unplug the unit and check the dispenser's wiring.
between the dispenser housing and the main control board, replace a damaged harness and, if the wiring is sound, replace the dispenser housing.
EdgeStar laundry center code E74
The detergent dispenser is empty.
Look at the dispenser reservoir.
Refill it with detergent.
EdgeStar laundry center code E75
The fabric softener dispenser is empty.
Look at the softener reservoir.
Refill it with fabric softener.

EdgeStar laundry center codes
An EdgeStar laundry center combines a washer and a dryer in one cabinet, and codes refer to one of the two parts. Check the washer for water, drain and lid faults using the taps, hoses and drain, and check the dryer part for lint, airflow and the vent. Balance the load and use the right amount of detergent.
Switch the unit off at the outlet for a minute and run a short wash. A code that returns needs a technician with the model number from the label.
Because a laundry center has a washer and a dryer in one frame, a fault in one may be mistaken for the other. Start the washer alone and then the dryer alone to see which misbehaves. Compact units use a smaller drum, so a full load can overwhelm them. A damp smell indicates that the door seal needs wiping and that the unit needs a regular clean cycle. EdgeStar's support asks for the model and serial from the label.
An EdgeStar laundry center is a compact all-in-one that washes and dries in the same cabinet, usually for apartments without hookups for two machines. Because the washer and dryer share a frame and a control, a fault in one can look like a fault in the other. Run each function on its own to find out which half is faulty before you read the table.
The washer half uses a drain pump and a water level sensor, and the codes in the table name them. A drain fault usually means a clogged pump or a kinked hose, and an overflow fault points to the inlet valve or the level sensor. The dryer half dries by condensation or by venting, depending on the model. A ventless model collects water that must be emptied or drained.
Because a laundry center has a small capacity, load it lightly and use little detergent. Clean the lint filter and the condenser regularly. If the unit is on a platform, check that the platform is level and strong. Place the unit where air can circulate, since heat and moisture build up in a closet. Keep the model and serial from the label for support.
Which part is at fault on a laundry center?
The code and the stage it appears in tell you: water and spin faults are the washer, drying and heat faults the dryer.
How can I tell which half is faulty?
Run the washer and dryer separately.
