Goodman gas furnace code EE2: meaning and exact next steps

EE2 means The low-stage pressure switch circuit is not closed, with the induced-draft blower running continuously and no furnace operation. Goodman lists a blocked, pinched or wrongly connected pressure-switch hose, a blocked flue or inlet air pipe, a blocked drain system or weak induced-draft blower, an incorrect set point or malfunctioning switch contacts, and loose wiring.

Goodman gas furnace code EE9: meaning and exact next steps

EE9 means The high-stage pressure switch circuit is not closed. The furnace fails to operate on high stage, runs normally on low stage, and the induced-draft blower operates.

Goodman gas furnace code EEL: meaning and exact next steps

EEL means A problem with the igniter circuit. Goodman lists an improperly connected or shorted igniter, a poor unit ground and an igniter relay fault on the integrated control module.

Every Goodman gas furnace code: what it means and what to do

Goodman gas furnace code Blank display

The furnace fails to operate and the integrated control display shows no signal. Goodman lists no 115-volt power to the furnace, no 24-volt power to the integrated control module, a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker, and a non-functional integrated control module.

Check that the furnace switch is on and the breaker has not tripped, and that the blower door is fully closed.

Goodman's corrective actions: restore high-voltage power to the furnace and integrated control module, correct the condition that caused a fuse to open and replace the fuse, and replace a non-functional integrated control module.

Goodman gas furnace code E10

A grounding fault or poor neutral connection.

Note whether the code appeared after electrical work.

Goodman says to verify the neutral wire connection to the furnace and continuity to the ground source.

Goodman gas furnace code EE0

Furnace lockout because of an excessive number of ignition retries, 3 in total. Goodman lists failure to establish flame and loss of flame after establishment as the faults.

Note whether the burners light briefly and go out or never light, and look for anything blocking the flue or air pipe outside.

Goodman's corrective actions: locate and correct a gas interruption, replace or realign the igniter, check the flame-sense signal and clean the sensor if coated or oxidized, check the flue piping for blockage, proper length, elbows and termination, and verify the induced-draft blower is performing properly. Most of this is technician work.

Goodman gas furnace code EE3

The primary limit circuit is open, with the circulator blower running continuously and no furnace operation. Goodman lists insufficient conditioned air over the heat exchanger, blocked filters, restrictive ductwork, improper circulator blower speed or a failed blower motor, and loose wiring in the high-limit circuit.

Turn the thermostat down, replace a dirty filter and open every supply and return register.

Goodman's corrective actions: check filters and ductwork for blockage, clean filters or remove the obstruction, check the circulator blower speed and performance, correct the speed or replace the blower motor if necessary, and tighten or correct the wiring connection.

Goodman gas furnace code EE4

Flame was sensed with no call for heat, with the induced-draft and circulator blowers running continuously and no furnace operation. Goodman lists a short to ground in the flame-sense circuit, lingering burner flame and a slow-closing gas valve.

If flame is visible with no heat call, turn off the gas supply.

Goodman's corrective actions: correct the short at the flame sensor or in its wiring, check for a lingering or lazy flame, and verify proper operation of the gas valve.

Goodman gas furnace code EE5

An open fuse, or a short in the low-voltage wiring, with no furnace operation.

Check whether the thermostat wiring or an accessory was just changed.

Goodman says to replace the fuse and locate and correct the short in the low-voltage wiring.

Goodman gas furnace code EE6

The flame-sense micro-amp signal is minimal while the furnace is operating normally. Goodman lists a coated or oxidized flame sensor, a sensor incorrectly positioned in the burner flame, and a lazy burner flame from improper gas pressure or combustion air.

Note whether the furnace is still running normally when the code shows.

Goodman's corrective actions: clean the flame sensor if coated or oxidized, inspect for proper flame-sensor alignment, and compare the current gas pressure with the rating plate and adjust as needed. Gas-pressure work is for a licensed technician.

Goodman gas furnace code EE8

The high-stage pressure switch circuit is closed at the start of the heating cycle. The furnace fails to operate on high stage, runs normally on low stage, and the induced-draft blower operates. Goodman lists sticking switch contacts and shorts in the pressure-switch wiring.

Note whether the furnace heats normally on low stage.

Goodman says to diagnose and replace the high-stage pressure switch if needed and to repair any short in the wiring.

Goodman gas furnace code EEA

The polarity of the 115-volt AC supply is reversed, or the unit has a poor ground.

Note whether the furnace worked before recent electrical work.

Goodman says to correct the polarity, check and correct the wiring, and verify a proper ground and correct it if necessary. Electrical work belongs to a licensed technician.

Goodman gas furnace code EEb

The gas valve is not energized when it should be: an external gas valve error.

Turn the furnace off at its switch.

Goodman says to check the wiring in the gas valve circuit and replace the integrated control board.

Goodman gas furnace code EEC

The gas valve is energized when it should not be: an internal gas valve error.

Turn the furnace off at its switch and, if flame continues with no call for heat, turn off the gas.

Goodman says to check the wiring in the gas valve circuit and replace the integrated control board.

Goodman gas furnace code EEE

Internal faults or IRQ loss in the control board.

Turn the furnace off and on once at its switch.

Goodman says to replace the integrated control board.

Goodman gas furnace code EEH

A TWIN error: the twinning feature is not working.

Note whether two furnaces are wired together on one thermostat.

Goodman says to check the wiring connections and replace the integrated control board.

Goodman gas furnace code EEJ

An inducer relay error.

Turn the furnace off and on once at its switch.

Goodman says to replace the integrated control board.

Goodman gas furnace code EEn

The igniter is open.

Note whether the igniter glows at all during start-up without opening the furnace.

Goodman says to check the igniter wiring and replace a damaged igniter.

Goodman gas furnace code IdL

Normal operation: the control is idle with no call for heat, cooling or fan.

Nothing is wrong when the display shows IdL.

Goodman lists no corrective action for this display because it is the normal idle state. If the furnace is not heating while showing IdL, the thermostat is not calling for heat, so check the thermostat setting and batteries.
