LG TV troubleshooting: issues from webOS apps to network and memory.

LG TV troubleshooting: LG webOS TVs show low-memory warnings, crashing apps and network drops that are fixed in different places: the app, the TV software or the router. Find your symptom and the model year before changing settings.

LG TVs run webOS. The first steps are to restart the TV with the remote, unplug it for a minute and install the latest software under Settings, Support, Software Update. Picture settings on LG OLED models are deep, and Reset to Initial Settings in the picture menu returns a changed picture mode to defaults without a full factory reset.

Troubleshooting an LG TV: webOS, picture and connection

The model name is under Settings, Support, About This TV, and the full model code on the back label identifies the year and panel. For network problems, check the TV's network status in Settings, Connection, and test with a phone hotspot to separate the TV from the router. For HDMI problems, change the cable and the HDMI port, and turn on HDMI Ultra HD Deep Color on the port in use for 4K sources. SIMPLINK (HDMI CEC) can cause unexpected input switching when it is on.

Why does my LG TV switch inputs by itself?

SIMPLINK, LG's HDMI CEC feature, lets a connected device change the input; turn it off in the TV's settings if it interferes.
