Samsung Galaxy S22+ will not connect to Wi-Fi or keeps disconnecting

Samsung Galaxy S22+ will not connect to Wi-Fi or keeps disconnecting: one network, all networks, VPN/profile and radio hardware produce different fixes. Scoped to SM-S906*.

Wi-Fi on the Galaxy S22+ drops in two documented ways. After the update to One UI 8.0, owners on Samsung's community report that Wi-Fi turns itself off with the screen on, on every network; the suggested workarounds are to turn off Turn on Wi-Fi automatically and Wi-Fi Power Saving Mode in the Wi-Fi Advanced menu, and, for a router with Fast Roaming enabled, to turn that off.

The checks in more detail

The second is the older pattern of drops on older updates, fixed with the usual steps. Forget the network and rejoin, restart the router, try the other band, and wipe the cache partition after a big update. Samsung's Switch to mobile data feature also leaves Wi-Fi when the signal is weak. Because Wi-Fi and Bluetooth share the 2.4 GHz band, a Bluetooth device can degrade Wi-Fi on that band, so use 5 GHz where possible.

If Wi-Fi still fails, reset network settings. If Wi-Fi turns off only when the phone is idle, check the Battery settings for Put unused apps to sleep and Adaptive battery, since an aggressive setting can power the radio down. Samsung's Members diagnostic also tests Wi-Fi and reports the result, which is useful when you contact the router's maker. Samsung's Wi-Fi diagnostics under Device care test the signal and report a score, and the phone also lists nearby networks with their bands, so a quick scan shows whether your 5 GHz network is visible at the place where you sit. If it is not, the 5 GHz signal does not reach there and the phone is falling back to 2.4 GHz, which explains drops while Bluetooth is in use.
