The 55, 65 and 77-inch S90D use Samsung's QD-OLED panel. The 42, 48 and 83-inch versions use a standard WOLED panel, so a review of one size does not describe the other.

Panel — QD-OLED
QD-OLED (self-emissive, perfect blacks, no backlight) with a glossy finish — brighter, more saturated color than a conventional WOLED. Being self-emissive, a 'dimming' complaint is the Auto Brightness Limiter on a large bright window (normal), not backlight bloom.
Smart platform
Inputs are on the TV itself (no One Connect box on the S90D, unlike the S95D). Update at Settings › Support › Software Update; screen share Smart View / AirPlay 2.
Gaming / HDMI
Four HDMI 2.1 ports (48 Gbps) with 4K 144 Hz, VRR (FreeSync Premium Pro) and ALLM. Turn on Game Mode; the Game Bar confirms the live refresh/VRR state.
Mounting
VESA 300 x 200 mm. The frame is just over an inch deep without the stand, and the included stand is a one-piece pedestal that attaches behind the TV.
Processor
Second-generation NQ8 AI processor, which handles 4K upscaling, audio up-tuning and voice assistant features.
Model and serial
The S90D is a Samsung QD-OLED TV with its label at the back. The model reads QN-something-S90D. Samsung support needs the full number and the serial, so take a photo of the label.
Burn-in care
An OLED panel can retain a faint ghost of a static image shown for a very long time. Vary what you watch, turn down the brightness of a news ticker or a game's HUD and let the TV run its pixel refresh when it asks.
Setting up the picture
Pick Filmmaker or Movie mode for films, and Game mode for consoles. Turn off extra motion smoothing to avoid the soap opera look. Check that HDMI ports are set to Input Signal Plus where a console or a streamer needs it.
HDR and game settings
The S90D supports HDR content and gaming features such as variable refresh rate. In Settings, General, External device manager, set Input Signal Plus for the port in use if a console shows no HDR. Use Game mode, which reduces input lag, and turn it off for films to get the full processing.
Care and cleaning
Clean the screen with a dry microfibre cloth. Do not spray cleaner directly onto it, and do not press hard on the panel. Allow air around the set, and keep the mount rated for its weight.

Does the Samsung S90D have a One Connect box like the S95D?+

No. The S90D's HDMI and other inputs are on the TV itself, so you troubleshoot signal problems at the back of the panel. Only the step-up S95D (and the Neo QLED QN95D/QN900D) use the separate One Connect box. Both are QD-OLED, but the S95D adds the matte coating and the external box; the S90D is glossy with on-set inputs.
