The machine was paused for more than 24 hours, or stopped itself before the cycle completed because of an error. A 4-minute lockout begins as the message scrolls.

Note what the washer was doing when it stopped.

Wait out the 4 minutes and restart; GE directs contacting service if it persists.

• A cycle paused over 24 hours: CAnCELEd scrolls after the washer sat paused, which points to a cycle paused over 24 hours. GE says it may scroll if the machine was paused for longer than 24 hours
• A cycle stopped by an error: The washer stopped itself early, which points to a cycle stopped by an error. GE says it can appear if the washer stopped before the cycle completed due to certain errors
• A drain or supply problem that stopped the cycle: CAnCELEd appears after the washer stopped part-way and the tub still holds water. Check the supply valves are open and the drain hose is not kinked
• A power interruption during the cycle: CAnCELEd appears after an outage or a flicker in the power. Check whether the power went out and start a new cycle

The lid is open.

Check nothing is caught in the lid path.

Close the lid fully and restart the cycle.

• The lid is open: dE shows and the washer pauses, which points to the lid is open. GE says dE indicates the lid is open
• A lid switch problem: The lid is closed and dE stays, which points to a lid switch problem. The lid switch probe or magnet may be missing or damaged
• Something caught under the lid edge: The lid looks closed but a sleeve or a towel is caught in the gap. Lift the lid, check the edge and the rim for anything trapped and close it firmly

Close the lid completely and start again.

Look for the small plastic probe or magnet on the lid that operates the lid switch.

If the lid is closed and dE stays, schedule service.

Look around the rim of the tub and the lid edge for a trapped item, then close the lid firmly and restart.

Status messages, not faults: Delay Wash is set, the cycle was paused with the Start/Pause button, or the cycle has ended.

Confirm which of the three is displayed.

Press Start to resume a paused cycle; no service action applies.

Water has reached a critical level. This is GE's most urgent washer message.

Stop using the washer.

GE directs turning off the water and the power to the washer and calling for service — do not continue running cycles.

• Water at a critical level: FE shows and the washer stops, which points to water at a critical level. GE says FE indicates water has reached a critical level
• A drain that is clogged and letting water rise: FE appears with water standing high in the tub and the washer will not drain. Turn off the washer and check the drain hose for kinks and blockages
• A fill valve that does not shut off: Water keeps entering the tub even while the washer is switched off. Turn the water supply off at the wall and see whether the water level stops rising

GE washer code FILL

Shown for the first 45 seconds of fill, then replaced by the estimated end-of-cycle time. Fill time depends on household water pressure and load size.

No action needed.

If FILL persists far beyond 45 seconds, check the supply valves and look for an H2O SUPPLY message.

GE washer code H2O SUPPLY, IE

The washer cannot sense water entering. GE also shows this as the Wash and Rinse lights blinking. The washer starts a 4-minute lockout as soon as the message scrolls.

Check both house supply valves are open — GE specifically asks whether they were left off after installation or a holiday.

Wait out the full 4-minute lockout; unplugging to bypass it restarts the timer.

• A supply valve left closed: H2O SUPPLY or IE shows after installation or a trip away. GE says to check whether one or both supply valves were left off after installation or vacation
• A washer in its lockout period: The controls do not respond after the message scrolls. As soon as the message scrolls the washer starts a 4 minute lockout, and unplugging restarts the timer
• A hose or inlet screen that is blocked: The washer fills slowly or not at all with both valves open. Turn the valves off, remove each hose and rinse the small screen inside the inlet

Confirm the house water supply is on and both supply valves are open.

The controls will not respond for 4 minutes after the message starts; unplugging does not bypass it.

After the 4 minutes, begin the cycle again.

H2O SUPPLY, IE, or Wash and Rinse lights blinking.

What does H2O SUPPLY mean? Water is not entering the washer.

How long is the lockout? 4 minutes, restarting if you unplug.

Can a kinked hose cause the H2O SUPPLY message? Yes; a bent hose restricts the fill, so check both hoses run straight behind the washer.

GE washer code LId, Lid Locked

On the display this means the cycle stopped because the lid is open. As a Consumer Help Indicator message it also appears when three cycles have run without the lid being opened, and the washer will not start another until it is.

Open the lid, then close it.

Start a new cycle; if it repeats, GE directs contacting service.

• Three cycles started without opening the lid: Lid or Lid Locked shows and the washer will not start. GE says Lid shows if 3 cycles have been started without opening the lid
• A lid switch that does not register the lid opening: The lid opens but Lid stays on after you close it again. Open and close the lid firmly a few times and see whether Lid clears
• A magnet or probe on the lid that is missing: The lid switch probe or the magnet on the lid is missing or damaged. Look at the lid for a missing magnet or bent probe and tell service if it is damaged

Open the lid, then close it.

Start a new cycle.

If the problem persists, contact service.

Lift the lid fully and close it firmly; the washer counts each opening, and Lid clears once it has seen one.

GE washer code SEnSIng

The washer is sensing load size and type before and during fill. GE documents this as normal operation.

No action needed.

None — this is not a fault.

GE washer code Spin light blinking, Spin and Rinse blinking

An out-of-balance condition was detected. The washer is correcting it, and the light stays on briefly after the cycle ends. This is not a failure.

Check whether the load came out wetter than normal.

GE directs redistributing the load evenly and running a Drain & Spin or Spin cycle.

• An out-of-balance load: The Spin light blinks and stays lit after the cycle. GE says the washer is taking action to correct an out-of-balance condition
• A washer that is not level: The cabinet rocks when pushed at a top corner. Level the feet until the cabinet no longer rocks
• A bulky item that will not spread: A rug, quilt or a single heavy item is in the drum. Add smaller items to spread the weight and restart the spin

If the load is more wet than normal, redistribute it evenly in the basket.

Run a Drain & Spin or Spin cycle; for Spin, select Normal and press Process until only the Spin light is on.

Make sure the washer is level.

If the load is one bulky item, add a few towels and restart the spin so the weight spreads around the basket.

The laundry load is unbalanced.

Open the lid and look at how the load is sitting in the basket.

Reposition the laundry evenly and confirm the washer is level.

• An unbalanced load: UE shows and the spin does not reach speed. GE says the laundry load is unbalanced; reposition it evenly in the basket
• A washer that is not level: The washer rocks when pushed, which points to a washer that is not level. Ensure the washer is level; it should not rock at all when not running
• A single bulky item that will not spread: UE appears when one heavy item, such as a rug or a quilt, is in the drum. Add smaller items to spread the weight and restart the spin

Reposition laundry evenly in the basket.

Adjust all four leveling legs until the washer is level left to right and front to back.

Run a Drain & Spin cycle; if the load is wetter than normal, redistribute and repeat.
