LG dryer code Add, Add Water

A water supply error for the steam function — LG's own wording. LG states the steam feeder must be filled to the MAX indicator lines before a steam cycle.

Check the steam feeder is full of water and the drawer is completely closed.

If the reading appears after a cycle has started, press PAUSE, fill the steam feeder with tap water to the MAX line, power the unit off and on, select the STEAM cycle and press START/PAUSE.

  • An empty steam feeder: Add or Add Water shows before or during a steam cycle. LG says the steam feeder must be filled with water up to the MAX indicator lines before a steam cycle
  • A drawer not fully closed: The feeder drawer sits slightly open, which points to a drawer not fully closed. Check the drawer is completely closed, and write down the result before moving to the next check
  • Distilled water in the feeder: The feeder holds distilled water, which points to distilled water in the feeder. LG says not to use distilled water, and write down the result before moving to the next check

If Add Water appears after a cycle has started, press Pause to temporarily stop it.

LG dryer code CL

The Child Lock function is enabled — LG's own description. This is a setting, not a fault. LG notes the lock can only be enabled with a dry cycle in progress, and stays on after the cycle ends even when the machine is powered off.

Look for a lock icon or a button labeled Child Lock, Control Lock or CL on the control panel.

Press and hold that button for 3 to 5 seconds to clear it.

  • Child Lock is on: CL shows and the dryer will not start, which points to child Lock is on. LG says once enabled the lock stays on even when the machine is powered off

Check the drain hose is not kinked or twisted and is not clogged with water at its end.

  • Lint packed into the filter slot: The filter is in place but lint in the slot stops it from seating fully. Remove the filter, clear the slot with a vacuum crevice tool and push the filter in until it seats

LG dryer code gAS

The dryer is not receiving gas — LG's own wording.

Check the gas supply valve is turned ON, with no gas odor present.

Check the gas line is not kinked; if the line is connected, unkinked and the valve is on, LG states the unit requires repair service.

  • A gas supply valve that is off: The gas dryer shows gAS and does not heat. Make sure the gas supply valve is turned ON
  • A kinked gas line: The gas line is bent behind the dryer, which points to a kinked gas line. Make sure the gas line is not kinked
  • A repair need: The valve is on and the line is straight. LG says the unit will require repair service

  • A drum motor problem: The load is normal and the drum stays still. LG says the drum is not rotating due to an issue with the drum motor; request service
  • A drum that is jammed or a belt that has slipped: The drum will not turn by hand with the power off, or spins freely with no resistance at all. Unplug the dryer and try to turn the drum by hand; a stuck drum or one with no resistance is a mechanical fault to report to service

  • Lint choking the airflow path: Very little air leaves the vent and the filter or duct is packed with lint when LE3 shows. Clean the lint filter, check the vent hose is not crushed, then run a short cycle and see whether LE3 returns

LG dryer code PS

Improper voltage with the power cord — LG's own wording. LG names a specific cause: the white and red wire connections reversed on the dryer's terminal block. NOTE: PS and nP are different faults, and LG documents them separately.

Check the power cord installation at the back of the dryer against LG's 3-wire and 4-wire instructions.

Switch the dryer's breaker off at the home's main for at least 10 seconds, then back on, and confirm the cord is in a grounded 240 V outlet.

  • White and red wires reversed at the terminal block: PS appears on a new installation, which points to white and red wires reversed at the terminal block. LG says PS may be caused by the white and red wire connections being reversed on the terminal block
  • A cord installed wrongly: 3-wire or 4-wire cord installed incorrectly, which points to a cord installed wrongly. Check the cord installation on the back of the dryer
  • An ungrounded or wrong outlet: The dryer is not on a grounded 240V outlet. Verify a grounded outlet matching the rating plate

LG says a PS error indicates improper voltage with the power cord; check the cord installation on the back of the dryer (3-wire and 4-wire installs differ).

Turn OFF the dryer's breaker at the main for at least 10 seconds to clear the power surge.

Note whether the room is cold or a steam cycle was running.

Clean the lint tray, then check the outside exhaust outlet for clogs — LG directs that its flappers, cage or mesh must open fully and be clear of lint.

  • A thermistor reading in cold conditions: tE2 appears in a cold room or garage, which points to a thermistor reading in cold conditions. LG says tE2 normally occurs during cold conditions
  • The duct cooling too quickly during a steam cycle: tE2 appears during SteamFresh, Steam Sanitary or a Steam Option. LG says the duct can cool down too quickly during steam cycles
  • A dirty lint filter: The lint tray is coated, which points to a dirty lint filter. Remove lint from the tray between each load and wash it with warm water and a soft brush
  • A blocked exhaust outlet: The outdoor flappers do not open all the way. Run Air Dry and check the flappers open fully; remove visible lint
