LG range or oven code F11

A Communication Error — LG's own wording.

Record the exact code and what the display was doing.

Press the CLEAR/OFF key and try the original function again; if the code reappears, switch the unit's circuit breaker off for 30 seconds before switching it back on — LG's own sequence.

• A communication error inside the range: F11 shows and the control is unresponsive, which points to a communication error inside the range. LG words F11 as a Communication Error, and write down the result before moving to the next check
• A loose connection between the control and the main board: F11 returns whenever the range powers up and some keys respond slowly. Only a technician should reseat it; note that F11 returns on every power-up and tell them
• A one-off glitch after a power interruption: F11 appeared once after an outage and cleared at the breaker. Switch the breaker off, wait, restore it and see whether F11 returns

Write down whether F11 appears at power-up, when you touch a key or during a cycle, because the moment it shows narrows down where the communication drops.

A Transistor Error — LG's own wording.

Record the code and the function in use.

Switch the unit's circuit breaker off, wait 30 seconds and switch it back on — LG's own sequence for this code; there is no CLEAR/OFF step for it.

• A transistor error on the induction section: F36 shows and the induction burners will not run. LG words F36 as a Transistor Error, and write down the result before moving to the next check
• Overheating after long high-power use: F36 appears after the burners were run hard for a long time and the surface is very warm. Turn all burners off, let the range cool completely and see whether F36 returns
• A fault on the induction power board: F36 returns from cold with no pan on the surface. Only a technician should check the board; tell them F36 returns from cold

Turn every burner off and leave the range alone until the surface and the area around the vents are cool to the touch before you try it again.

LG range or oven code F42

A Voltage Error — LG's own wording.

Note whether other appliances on the same supply are also misbehaving.

Switch the unit's circuit breaker off, wait 30 seconds and switch it back on — LG's own sequence for this code; there is no CLEAR/OFF step for it.

• A voltage error: F42 shows and the cooktop will not run, which points to a voltage error. LG words F42 as a Voltage Error, and write down the result before moving to the next check
• A weak or unstable supply from the house: F42 appears when other big loads start or the lights dim across the house. Watch whether F42 coincides with other appliances starting or lights dimming
• A loose connection in the range's supply: F42 appears with no other loads running and the terminals may be worn. Only an electrician or technician should check the supply terminals; tell them F42 appears with nothing else running

If F42 returns, ask an electrician to check the voltage supplied to the range before assuming the range is at fault.

Power has been interrupted to the appliance — LG's own wording.

Confirm whether household power was lost or the breaker tripped.

Press the CLEAR/OFF key and try the original function again; if the code reappears, switch the unit's circuit breaker off for 30 seconds before switching it back on — LG's own sequence.

• Power was interrupted to the appliance: PF shows after an outage or tripped breaker, which points to power was interrupted to the appliance. LG words PF as power having been interrupted to the appliance
• A tripped breaker or a switched-off supply: PF shows after the range lost power and the clock and lights were dark. Check the breaker for the range and reset it if it has tripped
• A brief outage from the utility: PF appeared after a storm or a flicker and other appliances also reset. Check whether the other clocks in the house were reset and whether the range works after clearing PF

After clearing PF, set the clock and any timer again, because an outage wipes them and the oven will not start timed cooking without a valid time.

The unit is in Sabbath Mode, and is explicit that this is NOT an error code — LG's own wording. While active, the temperature cannot be changed and the timer, light and alarm functions are disabled.

Check whether Sabbath Mode was enabled deliberately.

Exit Sabbath Mode as the model's manual directs. Nothing is faulty.

• Sabbath Mode is on: Sb or 5b shows and the temperature will not change. LG says the unit is in Sabbath Mode, which is not an error code
• Sabbath Mode started by holding the panel keys: Sb appeared after the panel keys were held during cleaning or during a power-up. Hold the keys as the steps describe and see whether Sb clears and the display returns to normal
• A setting left on after a holiday: Sb has stayed on since the last observance and the oven will not preheat normally. Check whether the oven was last used in Sabbath Mode and exit it as the steps describe

Press Bake to begin turning off Sabbath Mode.

Set the Bake temperature using the plus and minus keys, then press Start.

Press and hold Clock for 3 seconds to turn Sabbath Mode off.

Look at the panel and see whether the oven is showing Sb instead of a temperature; if it is, the oven is in Sabbath Mode and nothing is broken.
