- The original 2013 Xbox One — 1080p gaming, disc drive, hard drive. The oldest Xbox here; still online for some games but well behind current hardware, and slower with a mechanical hard drive.
- Storage — external USB works
- Add a USB 3.0 external drive to store and play games; the internal drive is a slow mechanical HDD, so an external SSD can even speed up load times a little.
- Age & performance
- As the oldest model, it is slower and louder, and app/online support for older titles is shrinking. It does not do 4K anything (video or games).

My original Xbox One is very slow.+
The 2013 launch Xbox One uses a slow mechanical hard drive and older hardware, so long load and install times are largely inherent to its age. Adding an external USB 3.0 SSD to install games onto can noticeably improve load times, and keeping the system software updated and freeing storage helps. But it will not match a newer Xbox; the original One is the slowest model in the family.
