Which units this covers, and how to tell yours is one of them

Every answer below is scoped to these model identifiers. A neighbouring model in the same line can use a different part, a different reset sequence or a different radio, so matching the identifier before following a procedure is the step that decides whether the rest of the page applies to you.

What is true of this model and changes how you fix it

These are the properties that decide which procedure applies. Each is read from the manufacturer’s own published figures for this model, not carried over from a sibling that shares its retail name.

Model — Xbox Series X Digital (all-digital)
The 2024 all-digital Series X — the same 4K/120 performance and 1TB class SSD as the disc Series X but with NO disc drive, so it is download-only. Disc symptoms do not apply.
Storage expansion
Same as the disc model: expand with the official Storage Expansion Card for current-gen games; USB stores current-gen games and plays older Xbox One/back-compat titles.
Network
Dual-band Wi-Fi and Gigabit Ethernet; wired is most reliable for downloads and online play.

Exact questions

Questions that only have an answer for the Xbox Series X Digital Edition

Each answer below uses this model’s own published figures. The same question asked about a different model in the line has a different answer, which is why it is answered here rather than on a general page.

Does the all-digital Xbox Series X play discs?+

No — the 2024 all-digital Series X has no disc drive, so it is download-only and cannot play or install disc games or 4K UHD movie discs. Its performance otherwise matches the disc Series X (4K up to 120fps). If you own disc games or want UHD movie playback, you need the disc version of the Series X; disc troubleshooting does not apply to the digital model.
