What is true of this model and changes how you fix it

• Panel — full-array LED LCD (not Mini-LED)
  2023 full-array local-dimming LED LCD with the Cognitive Processor XR — a basic FALD backlight (around 88 zones), NOT Mini-LED (that is the X95L/BRAVIA 7). Fewer zones means more visible blooming and less precise contrast than a Mini-LED set; that is the tier, not a fault.
• Smart platform
  Google TV.
• Gaming / HDMI — 2 ports, one shared with eARC
  Two HDMI 2.1 ports (HDMI 3 and 4) for 4K 120 Hz, VRR and ALLM; HDMI 3 is also eARC. Console on HDMI 4 if a soundbar takes eARC.
• Size and weight
  The 55-inch is 57 x 32 3/4 x 2 1/4 in without the stand and weighs 53.4 lb (55.1 lb with the stand). The line runs from 55 to 98 inches.
• Label and numbers
  The Sony X90L is a full-array LED Google TV, with a label on the back panel showing the XR model number and the serial. Take a photo of it before mounting, as Sony's support will ask for both.
• Picture settings
  Sony's Cognitive Processor XR adjusts contrast by zone. Use the Cinema or Custom picture mode for films, keep the Motionflow smoothing off for cinema content and lower the Brightness in a dark room. The set has local dimming, which varies the backlight by zone.
• Gaming
  The X90L supports a Game mode with low input lag on its HDMI 2.1 ports. Turn on Enhanced format for the port your console uses, and check that the console is set to the right resolution.
• Connections
  The X90L has HDMI ports, with HDMI 2.1 on two of them for 4K at 120 Hz on a console or a PC. Use those ports for gaming devices and the eARC port for a soundbar. Label the ports with a pen on the cable so that you remember which is which.
• Remote and voice
  The remote uses Bluetooth and has a microphone button for Google Assistant. If it does not respond, replace the batteries and re-pair it from Settings. Voice commands need the TV to be online.
• Mounting and placement
  The X90L can sit on its feet or hang on the wall. The feet can be fitted in two positions to suit a soundbar. Leave room around the set for air, and keep it away from a heater or direct sun. Use a mount rated for its weight and the VESA pattern shown in the manual.
