LG dishwashers: leaks, drains, codes and drying
LG codes are short: IE for a fill fault, OE for a drain fault, FE for an overfill, AE for water in the base and dE for the door. For a drain code, clean the filter and check the hose. For a fill code, check the supply valve and the inlet screen. For a leak, check suds first, then the door seal, the inlet and the drain hose. A cycle that stops is often a drain, a fill, the door or the power.
The label with the model is on the inside edge of the door or the side of the tub. The door opens a little at the end of the cycle by design, which is the auto-open drying system. Scrape plates but do not pre-rinse them, use rinse aid and clean the filter monthly.
LG sells its dishwashers under its own name and, for its higher range, under Signature Kitchen Suite, and the directory lists the models that have a guide. The first facts to find are whether the dishwasher has the third rack and whether the controls are on the front or on the top edge, since a top-control model hides its display until the door is open. Both types use the same sort of filters and spray arms, which the guides cover.
Most LG dishwasher problems are the usual ones: a cycle that does not start because the door has not latched, water that does not drain because the filter or the hose is blocked, dishes that come out dirty because the spray arm is blocked, and a cycle that runs very long because the heater or the sensor is working. The model label is inside the door or on its edge, and support will ask for it.
A dishwasher that is only a few years old is usually worth repairing, and most repairs on these machines are a filter, a hose or a valve, which cost far less than a replacement.
