Open recordSamsung appliance codes: how to read the display
Samsung shows its fault codes as short letter-and-number combinations, and the same pair of characters can mean different things on a washer, a dishwasher, a refrigerator and a range, so read the code against the appliance type first. On washers the common ones are about water and balance: 4C is a water supply problem, 5C or SC a drain problem, UE an unbalanced load and dE a door that is not latched. Dishwashers use a similar set for water in and out and a leak sensor, refrigerators use numbered E codes for sensors, the compressor and communication, and ranges and ovens show C-codes for the control, the temperature probe and the door lock.
Write down the code exactly as shown, with any dashes and letter case, and note what the appliance was doing when it appeared. Switching the power off at the breaker for a minute clears a one-off glitch, but a code that comes back means the cause is still there. Some codes, such as a leak or a door-lock fault, are safety-related and should be treated carefully. Each family of codes has its own page with the manufacturer's meaning and what you can safely check yourself.
Samsung publishes its codes in separate tables for each appliance type, and this library follows them. For refrigerators the numbers are mostly sensor and fan faults, such as the evaporator or freezer fan, with a few for communication between boards; the pages explain which are worth a power reset and which point to a part. For ranges the codes cluster into the control compartment fan, stuck keys, the temperature probe and the door lock.
Samsung also sells models under older code schemes, so if a code does not match, check the model number. Dryers use codes for the vent and the sensors, and some washer codes are only seen on certain generations of the platform.
Are Samsung washer and dishwasher codes the same?
Some letters repeat, such as 4C and 5C for water and drain, but each appliance type has its own list, so use the page for your appliance.
Is it safe to keep using a Samsung range showing a door-lock code?
Do not force the door. Let the oven cool, reset the power once, and call for service if the code returns.
Why do Samsung washer and refrigerator codes look similar?
Both use short alphanumeric codes, but each product has its own table, so read the code against the appliance.
