Nintendo Switch console error codes: online play, matchmaking and video codes
Nintendo Switch console codes as Nintendo Support lists them, each with its meaning and the first safe check.
This group holds the rest of the Switch's internet and network setup codes, and the checks that clear them are the same as for the first group. Run the connection test in System Settings, Internet, then restart the router and modem, and test the console on a phone hotspot. If the hotspot works, the problem is the home network, and the router's firewall, its DNS setting or a security mode the Switch does not support are the usual causes.

Try setting the console's DNS manually to a public DNS service, check that the router is not blocking the console, and update the router's firmware. A strict NAT type limits online play but does not stop basic connections; enabling UPnP or forwarding the ports Nintendo lists improves it. Codes that continue on every network point to the console, and Nintendo support can look them up from the full number.
Can changing the Switch's DNS fix a connection code?
It can, if the router's DNS is slow or failing. Enter a public DNS in the console's internet settings and run the connection test again.
What does a strict NAT type mean?
The router limits how the console connects to other players. It does not stop the console going online, but it can cause matchmaking problems.
