Troubleshooting a OnePlus phone
OnePlus phones run OxygenOS, which has its own battery and performance modes; High Performance mode keeps the processor fast and generates heat, and the original SuperVOOC charger and cable are needed for the fastest charging. After an OxygenOS update, drain and heat can rise for a few days. Wi-Fi hanging on the 5 GHz band has been reported on some models, and joining the 2.4 GHz band is the quick test.
OnePlus phones run OxygenOS, and many problems are fixed by the usual order: restart, update the software under Settings, About device, and check the battery and app settings. OnePlus manages background apps aggressively to save battery, so notifications that arrive late are often fixed by allowing the app to run in the background and removing battery restrictions for it.
If the phone is slow, clear the cache of the heaviest apps and check the free storage. Safe mode, started from the power menu, shows whether a downloaded app is the cause. Back up before any factory reset, and use the maker's warranty for hardware faults such as a screen that shows lines or a battery that swells.
