Craftsman garage door opener codes

Craftsman openers made by Chamberlain use a diagnostic LED on the motor head, and the number of flashes identifies the fault, such as a safety sensor problem, a travel limit or a force fault. Check the model number on the label, because blink codes differ between generations. Always clear obstructions, wipe the sensor lenses and test the door's balance by lifting it halfway by hand with the opener disconnected.

Craftsman garage door openers, like other brands, report problems with flashing LEDs and counted flashes on the motor unit. Safety-sensor faults are the most common: the two eyes near the floor must see each other, and a light that is flashing or off tells you which one is misaligned. Check the wires to the sensors for damage, too.

The up and down limits and the force settings control where the door stops and how it reverses, and wrong settings cause a door that opens fully but will not close, or one that reverses early. Do not bypass the safety sensors. The springs and cables are dangerous to adjust, so leave them to a technician.

What do the flashing LEDs on a Craftsman opener mean?

The count of flashes identifies the fault, so count them several times and match the number to the legend in your manual.
